The Troops

Last night Luke's school had their Fall Festival...costumes, pumpkin decorating and trick-or-treating door to door through the halls of the school...

Ryan was supposed to be a Power Ranger. But just as I predicted, as soon as he saw Luke decked out in army gear, complete with camo face paint, he decided to go army too!

The streak has ended...

We made it through one year of Luke's kindergarten and 9 weeks of first grade without ever being tardy or forgetting his backpack! We were definitely going to be tardy Tuesday morning, but the rain saved us. The car pool lane is always backed up when it's raining, so they give you a break and let you drop off a little late... whew! But as Luke unbuckled I saw him in a panic, looking around for his backpack... darnit!!

So I told him I'd bring it up to the school after I dropped Ryan off. I can't function properly when Andrew is out of town. Thank goodness Luke likes cafeteria food, or else I'd really be in trouble.

...I believe in babies...

I'm on my way to see Don Williams live in Oklahoma. I have so many great memories of hearing his songs as a kid on AM radio and singing along in the car with my dad...but I've never seen him in person. I wish I knew how to post music...I'd give you some Good Ole Boys Like Me or I Believe in Love...can't decide, every song is my favorite song...

Sunday Six

I decided to pose these questions to the kids separately this time. Wanted to see how 4 year old Ryan would answer without being prompted by Luke's responses...Thanks Missing JT Snow for the autumn theme...

1. What is fall?
Ryan: Like a big volcano and then it's a fall.
Luke: When it gets cooler in October, or on almost the last day of September. When all the leaves change colors. Some can change to purple. They fall off the trees and then you can rake them.

2. Why do leaves change color?
Ryan: Because they fall off the tree.
Luke: Actually, I don't know.

3. What color remind you of fall?
Ryan: Orange.
Luke: The warm colors. Yellow, orange, and red.

4. Why do we call it fall?
Ryan: Because it is good because you get to go to the pool and waterslides.
Luke: Because the leaves fall.

5. What is your favorite thing about fall?
Ryan: When Santa comes. Snow 'falls' right?
Luke: That we get to do Halloween.

6. What is the weather like where we live during fall?
Ryan: It rains.
Luke: Sometimes it can be 60 degrees. or 70 or 80.
